so much for a good thing
I'll be moving on to another local brewer with Labatt's purchase of Lakeport, it's a shame really, the original Brava was a good thing while it lasted. Inbev can shove their swill and their greedy prices.

Teamsters a NO SHOW at May Day Rally-???
So where were the Teamsters at the May Day Rally in Hamilton May 1/2010? No significant amount of Lakeport Workers there to protest either. There were Unions there from as far away as Sudbury that came to voice strong opinions about lost jobs to foreign interests. I guess it was too much of a bother to support them.

Boycot Labatts
Labatts only bought Lakeport to close it down and cut the competition. As consumers maybe we can close Labatts in Ontario by organizing a total "no buy" program. Start at your local level the union, family, friends, media.internet chat rooms, t shirts and pickets. Face it Labatts S U C K

WHEN IS THE RALLY?
The teamsters seem pretty quiet. Why aren't they organizing something. Labatts must think they are a joke

Closed Early
Standard operating procedure. They closed early in Winnipeg too. Didn't close early in Kitchener and the workers wrecked the place. I guess the most fun for them was taking turns with the fork lifts raised a few feet and taking runs at the stored product. What a mess.....................

LOOKING FOR WORK
I would like to thank the teamsters for their hard work in negotiating the best package possible from a company that wanted to only give what is required by law. Labatts has finally succeeded in what they set out to do and that is CLOSE US.

If Labatt Could Dynamite The Plant They Would
Let’s face it – Labatt bought the plant for one purpose and that was to shut down competition; especially the Lakeport buck-a-beer. Do you really think they would sell a plant to another would be competitor? If this web site and public opinion wasn’t shining heat and light up their ass in 2007 the would have torched the place the day after the purchase.

Interesting talks planed
Minhas Creek wants to expand in Ontario April 12, 2010 Meredith MacLeod A Calgary brewery is interested in buying Lakeport. Minhas Creek Brewing Company, which produces under the Boxer Lager brand of beer, is looking at taking over the Burlington Street plant. Minhas Creek is contacting Labatt, the Port Authority, which owns the land and the building, Teamsters Union 938 and city officials, according to a press release issued late this morning. Minhas Creek began brewing in the West in November 2007. It has been recently urging the LCBO and The Beer Store to carry more of its stock after surging sales in Ontario since it was introduced here last fall. Labatt announced will shutter the Hamilton brewery and move production of Lakeport beers to London. The company said it would take all the brewing equipment out of the plant.

Labatt? Never heard of it.
The name Labatt is going to be erased from my vocabulary. Never again will I buy that stuff again. We'll see how Labatt's market share in Hamilton turns out. I wish all the employees at the Lakeport brewery all the best of luck. I know it's not going to be easy at finding a comparable job with good wages in todays economy. There is nothing left in this city.

agreed. we knew it was coming three years ago. as difficult as this change is, it had to have been expected. i mean, look at the number of people that were laid off when labbat purchased the place three years ago - there was a reason behind that. however, i am NOT at all sticking up for the company. i still say F**K 'EM & I will not buy their product anymore.

wheres Tresa now?
One thing positive could be said about you fulltime workers at Lakeport is that Teresa paid you about 27 plus a hour plus fantastic benifits. She screwed the 45 plus seasonals to do this but the weak and gutless union (teamsters) allowed this.I won;t lose focus on this issue so i say ROCK on Labtts and lets shuter down.
